NSBE National Convention
NSBE is an organization that provides students with professional, academic and community support. The mission of NSBE is to “increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” Throughout the semester, we have accomplished this through community outreach, study halls and professional development. For example, we bring 20 plus high school students to campus through our PCI Weekend every February to teach them about STEM and Missouri S&T. We have hosted this event for more than 15 years, and it is one of the many examples of how NSBE contributes to Missouri S&T.
One major component to NSBE is professionalism. We accomplish this by attending our National Convention in March. This convention has more than 100 employers, and many students receive internship opportunities on the spot. Our members have the opportunity to network with companies and different NSBE chapters, and participate in academic and professional activities within one week. Our members can also participate in a research competition and a Hack-A-Thon sponsored by Google to win prizes, listen to guest speakers or companies at seminars, and talk to recruiters at the career fair.
The trip will cost $336 per student, and there are 28 active members planning to attend the National Convention. This can be a financial burden for students to pay out of pocket; we need your help with these expenses. Any amount of money that you donate will be greatly appreciated and will go directly towards the expenses for the National Convention.
Please consider contributing to our professional and academic growth by donating today.
