November 03, 2015

We are well into the 2015-2016 Competition Year--our Critical Design Review is only a couple weeks away, and the team will soon begin fabrication on the next rover. Everything is coming along great!

Competing in the European Rover Challenge was a fantastic opportunity, and we couldn't have done it without YOU! We just wanted to send a final thank you to all our friends, family, and supporters who made this dream possible. All of the perks have been delivered or are on their way, and we hope you enjoy them.

While we wish all of our supporters could have been with us in Poland, we have the next best thing! Check out this video of the team's travel, competition, and experience. Be sure to stay up to date with the team on our social media, and learn about the exciting new challenges and opportunities ahead!

Today. Tomorrow. Forever.

Mars Rover Design Team

Post ERC Update - Thank you for your support!

September 17, 2015

Welcome to the 2015-2016 Mars Rover Design Team competition season! We all had busy summers with internships, preparing for Poland, competing in the European Rover Challenge (ERC), and getting ready for the exciting year we have ahead of us.

We would like to take the time to thank you all again for your generous support. We couldn’t have traveled to the European Rover Challenge without you. We were able to send six students and an advisor and they spent nearly two weeks outside of Kielce, Poland before ERC rebuilding Horizon, which had to be taken apart for shipping, and preparing for competition.

Out of 44 teams from around the world, we took 10th at competition, a feat that we are extremely proud of! We were the only US team to compete in ERC history and it was an incredible honor to get to not only represent our school, but also our country, and you, our supporters. Many lessons have been learned that we believe will greatly improve our performance in the future and we hope to compete again at ERC in the future.

On one last note, our last few rewards are slightly delayed, but they are in progress and you have not been forgotten! You can expect them within the next couple weeks.

Thank you again for following us on this journey. We are still in awe everyday of how supportive you are and we will always be grateful to you, who allowed us to make this dream of competing at ERC a reality. As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to us at marsrover@mst.edu. We always look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks for all of the support!

We've hit $3,000!!! That's 20% of our goal and we're so thankful for everyone's support.

We would like to introduce a new pledge level at $125. The reward will be a small glow in the dark rover! Check out the main project description for a picture. We're also aware we are out of carbon fiber dog tags and we're currently trying to ensure that we will be able to create more before we make more available. We're also looking at aluminum dog tags as well! If you know someone interested in either, feel free to have them email us at marsrover@mst.edu and we'll let them know when we have more available!

We had one of our first successful test drives over the weekend.

Thanks for all of your support! Please help us spread the word! If you know any companies or individuals that might be willing to donate materials and other supplies, please let us know and we'd love to get into contact with them.

We also just released our CDR vdeo. Be sure to check it out below!

Upcoming Rover Reveal

April 15, 2015

We want to personally thank everyone who has gotten us this far!  Your support is what makes student design teams like ours possible.

We also want to thank the Henry A. Jubel Foundation for their generous support of the team.  The Henry A. Jubel Foundation supports students and design teams in the Missouri and Illinois area and is named in honor of Henry Jubel, the founder of Spartan Light Metal Products.  Melissa Markwort, granddaughter of Mr. Jubel, will be attending the Rover Reveal this Friday and will meet the team members and Horizon.

The Rover Reveal will take place Friday, April 17th at 12 pm on the Havener Center lawn.  Sarah Ward, the CEO, will start by introducing the team and giving a brief overview of the team’s progress so far.  Then the team’s CTO, Josh Jetter, will discuss the technical innovations of Horizon and finally, Chancellor Schrader will address the crowd and formally introduce Horizon.

Keep a lookout on our Facebook page for pictures and video of Horizon after the reveal.  We will also post pictures of Horizon to the Crowdfunding page.

Our Facebook page has the most updated information on the team: http://facebook.com/MissouriMRDT

Thanks again for all your support!  Because of you, we can Rove So Hard.

Newest Member of MRDT: Horizon!

April 22, 2015

We would like to introduce to you Horizon, the newest member of MRDT.

Check out our Facebook Page for the latest pictures of Horizon with the team!

Last Friday, Sarah Ward (CEO), Josh Jetter (CTO), and Chancellor Schrader welcomed Horizon to the campus.  The team set up displays to show off their work throughout the year.  At noon, Horizon made her grand appearance by driving down the Havener Center steps onto the stage.  Campus and community members had the chance to meet the team and the new Rover.

Horizon then went on spin through campus greeting visitors and campus guests.  It was an amazing day to say the least!  We are very excited to finally show off Horizon.

We are also ecstatic to announce that we have raised more than 75% of our goal!  The dream of competing in Poland may soon become a reality!  Keep passing along our story to your friends, family, and co-workers.  Let’s keep roving forward!

Here's a re-cap of Phoenix competing in the University Rover Challenge in May of 2014.  We are a little over a month away to URC 2015 where Horizon will compete!

We've hit our goal!!!

April 28, 2015

Thank you to everyone who has donated so far! We couldn't have gotten this far without your support and generosity!

The team is ramping up to compete at the University Rover Challenge at the end of May as the school year comes to a close. We have pictures of our construction and testing up on our Facebook page as well as in an Imgur album.

While $15,000 will get us to Poland, it is the bare minimum that we need to accomplish our goals. We're ultimately shooting for $20,000 which will help cover travel expenses for the team and help us make any modifications and repairs to Horizon between University Rover Challenge and the European Rover Challenge in September. Please continue spread the word! We still have nine days left.

On a final note, if you selected a carbon fiber dog tag before we had aluminum dog tags available and would prefer an aluminum dog tag, feel free to send us an email at marsrover@mst.edu and we'll send you the one you prefer.

Thanks again for your support! We can’t wait to make you proud at the European Rover Challenge!

of Thanking You
